2 | Our project aims to reflect on values in school, pastoral care and other care contexts. What academic perspective do I bring to the project with regard to this focus?

In a previous research project I have critically examined so called manual based programs, offered to facilitate teachers´ work with value education (democratic mission). The programs consist of different exercises aiming at improve the social skills of the pupils and relates primarily to theories about so called socio-emotional intelligence. The critique concerned how a deeper philosophical ethical reflection on democratic values were replaced by training therapeutic oriented behaviours.

In a future project I would like to continue to discuss other potential methods and ways for value education by starting in phenomenological method, affect theory and ethical theory.

I would hope for possibilities in cooperation around issues such as investigating methods for a strengthened democratic mission and values related to this mission. I think that a comparative approach between Germany, Denmark and Sweden could serve this purpose.
